Data deletion

Last updated: 21 October 2026 · The German version is authoritative.

From connected channels, Carpool stores only what is needed to assign posts to press cars and to create reports (see Connected channels and our privacy policy). This is how you remove a connection and have your data deleted:

1. In Carpool: remove the channel

Sign in and open Settings → Social media channels (Einstellungen → Social-Media-Kanäle). Click the bin icon next to the channel (“Kanal entfernen” – remove channel). Carpool immediately deletes the channel, any stored access token and all posts it has read from this channel. For TikTok, Carpool also revokes its access at TikTok. Coverage entries you have already assigned to a press car remain part of your reports; you can delete them individually on the press car.

2. On Facebook: remove Carpool

You can also remove the permission in Facebook: Settings & privacy → Settings → Business integrations (or “Apps and websites”) and remove “Carpool kalle”. Facebook notifies Carpool, which then forgets the access to your Pages and stops reading them.

If you also request the deletion of your data in Facebook, Carpool automatically deletes the connected Facebook Pages, all posts it has read including stored thumbnails, and the access token. For coverage entries you had already created from these posts, only the link to the post remains – text, image and counts from Facebook are removed. Facebook shows you a confirmation code and a link where you can check the status of the deletion.

3. On TikTok: revoke access

In the TikTok app you can revoke Carpool’s access in the settings under the permissions for apps and services. Carpool can then no longer read anything and forgets the access on its next fetch. To delete the posts already read as well, remove the channel as described in 1. or write to us.

4. YouTube, Instagram and blogs

Carpool reads these channels without any sign-in, from publicly available information. There is no access to revoke; if you remove the channel as described in 1., Carpool deletes the posts it has read.

5. Delete your whole account or all data

Write to jan [at] log42 [dot] com and state the e-mail address of your Carpool account or the channel concerned. We delete your account and the related data without undue delay, at the latest within one month, and confirm the deletion to you. This also applies if you have no Carpool account and want to know whether any data about you is stored.
